Help! Need help changing movie file type!?
Ok, I have this one type of movie file recorded from a digital camera, and it won’t work on WMM! And I need it to!
Is there any way I can change the file type! Need answers right away! I’m helping a friend with her drama music video and I need to finish it for her! PLEASE HELP!!
PS: I’d like step by step intructions please, I’m quite simple-minded. THANK YOU!!

WMM= Windows movie maker, for those who don’t know.
The only way I know of to convert a video file from one type to another is to use a video editing program that has conversion capabilities. For example, I recently had to convert a WMV file to an AVI file and I was able to do it using Sony Vegas Movie Studio. The catch of course is that programs that can do this aren’t free like WMM, but I was lucky enough to get Vegas at about a third of the regular price thanks to a sale and rebate.
BTW, simply changing the file extension won’t do it because that doesn’t alter the file type and the software will still know it’s incompatible. If it came directly from a camcorder, it should be an AVI file which WMM can handle, but maybe you’re trying to open it the wrong way. Instead of trying to open it as a project, select “Import into Collections” on the file menu. If it’s an AVI or MPEG file it should load without a problem.
